Luftgekühlt 10 Pre-Show—Sunset Views and Porsche Vibes at the Petersen
- Images by Shawn Glad
Luftgekühlt 10 kicked off in true LA style on the evening before the main event at the Universal Studios Backlot, set against the skyline on the rooftop of the Petersen Automotive Museum. The scene was a perfect blend of classic air-cooled Porsches and a few modern additions, all framed by a Los Angeles sunset. It was the ideal spot to catch up with friends, swap stories, and talk shop with other Porsche fans.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 911 Turbo added an extra layer to the night. Owners of this iconic model got front-row parking, and their cars couldn’t have looked better against that hazy Hollywood sunset.
The evening was all about connecting with other Porsche enthusiasts over drinks and bites while getting a preview of some of the standout cars that would be at Luftgekühlt. With the energy of the city all around, there was a quiet anticipation for what was to come at Universal Studios.
The evening unfolded perfectly: as cars began to roll in and fill the Petersen’s rooftop, each was carefully parked to show off the best lineup of the night, with the 911 Turbo models up front. Patrick Long, co-founder of Luftgekühlt, took a moment to welcome everyone and set the tone for the weekend. As the night went on, the rooftop became a gathering of enthusiasts sharing stories and enjoying the anticipation for Luftgekühlt at Universal Studios the following day.
Check out some of my favorite shots and cars from the evening below, and don’t miss the full gallery at the bottom. Full coverage of Luftgekühlt 10 is coming soon—stay tuned.
Cheers!
This 1973 Porsche 914-6 GT, created as a tribute by Gary Donohoe of Dan Gurney’s All American Racing team in the early 00’s, later went to Seattle where a 2.8l was added. It has been used it on numerous charity rallies to raise money for Parkinson’s Research.
